A flexible backup tool.

flexbackup is for you if you have a single or small number of machines, amanda is "too much", and tarring things up by hand isn't nearly enough...

Stable version: 1.2.1 (Oct 10 2003)

Related programs:

This program can use the "buffer" utility to speed up tape and network I/O: (recommended, not required). The RPMs are compiled with changes to allow large file (>2GB) support.

Source: buffer-1.19.shar.gz
Source RPM: buffer-1.19-5.src.rpm
Redhat 8/9 RPM: buffer-1.19-5.i386.rpm

People sometimes have trouble finding afio... (recommended for tapes; not required - you can use just about any archive program)

Source: afio-2.4.7.tgz
Source RPM: afio-2.4.7-134.src.rpm (taken from SuSe, but rebuildable w/ just about any rpm)
Redhat 8/9 RPM: afio-2.4.7-134.i386.rpm

Newer versions can alternately use the "mbuffer" utility instead of "buffer". I would recommend staying with "buffer" unless you want to experiment.

Redhat 8/9 RPM: mbuffer-20011008-1.i386.rpm
